Waving goodbye and hello
On the brink of the new year
I love the flexibility of the word wave. It can mean goodbye (see you, 2025), or hello (come on in, 2026). It can also point to the natural flow of life itself, whether as unseen energy and matter, or as the vast, rhythmic ebb and flow of the ocean. However we use the word, what it always holds in common is temporality: something is arising, and something is departing.
As much as we try to hold on to certain moments or seasons, and just as fervently as we try to push away the difficult ones, they come and they go. Light gathers, darkness enfolds, and the earth keeps turning.
These truths come alive in the practice of yoga asana and meditation. We invite flexibility in the body and temper it with steadiness of mind and effort, again and again. Join us this year as we wave hello to our best intentions: to live fully and tenderly, for our own benefit and for the benefit of others.
May 2026 bring us peace, strength, justice, and insight to all who seek with open and compassionate hearts.
Waving a Happy New Year to you with love!
