Yoga for Your Hands, Wrists, and Arms with Amir on Zoom

  • Sun & Moon Yoga on Zoom (map)

We use our hands for almost everything we do throughout the day, from typing on the computer to chopping vegetables for dinner. On top of this, if your work requires you to use your hands in repetitive motions, then hand, write, and forearm muscles and joints are at particular risk for injury. Additionally, wrist injuries are common in yoga, yet we ignore them and move in to poses that put pressure on our wrists without knowing how our muscles support this complex joint.

Many yoga postures bend the wrist deeply, like in downward facing dog, which can create impingement or strain if the wrists are not aligned properly or strong or flexible enough to prevent the bones from touching. Alignment of the arms and shoulders greatly determines the proper function of our hands and wrists.

Amir's workshop will present practical yoga healing techniques, focusing on knowledge of alignment and functional anatomy to restore proper function to these areas, as well as increase strength and flexibility in the small muscles of the hands and fingers, where over 25% of the body’s bones are located.
