Afternoon Immersion: Practicing and Teaching Inversions w/Annie Moyer (Arlington)

  • Sun & Moon Yoga – Arlington 3811 Lee Highway Arlington, VA 22207 (map)

When practicing yoga asana, an inversion constitutes any shape that places the head below the heart, the heart below the hips, and/or the hips below the feet. Headstands, handstands, and shoulderstands are considered the ultimate inversions, but they're not the only ones. There are some great reasons to practice inversions, and some important reasons not to. As teachers, we must know the difference, and we must be skilled at offering clear instruction to safely guide students into these shapes, and we should be ready to offer suitable options to make the experience accessible to all. Join Annie for an afternoon immersion that examines the anatomy, physiology, philosophy, and methodology of practicing and teaching these poses. Yoga Alliance CEUs provided.

This workshop is geared towards yoga teachers and/or those who have completed a 200-hour teacher training, but is also suitable for anyone looking to learn more about practicing inversions.
