We all have default patterns in everyday activities, and these patterns often show up on the yoga mat in unhelpful ways. Overworking certain areas of the body and ignoring others can lead to pain and injury. This workshop will bring awareness to these often-overlooked areas of the body, and students will come away with tools to help avoid discomfort and find ease throughout the entire spinal column. Beginning with a brief anatomy lesson about the spine and its functional properties, we’ll look at certain muscles, movement patterns, and practices that help bring the whole torso into healthy balance. Through eight key tips, beginner and intermediate yoga practitioners alike can make their practice and their bodies in everyday life both stronger and safer.
