The Art and Practice of Teaching: Afternoon Immersion

An informed appreciation of yoga’s literary and cultural roots can inform the quality of our practice and our teaching of this ancient science. Elements of sacred stories work on us, and our students, in many different ways — and on different levels of consciousness. In his book, Yoga Beyond Belief, Ganga White wrote that “we stand on the shoulders of the past to find how we can see a bit farther.” In immersing ourselves in understanding the spectrum of qualities in the characters described in the world’s first epic poem - fear, love, doubt, separation, and connection - we enrich our understanding of how the timeless truths within the story are relevant to the real-life challenges we and our students face on and off the mat. This afternoon will also explore how to translate and weave Ramayana themes into the meditation experience.

This workshop is open to anyone with a 200-hour yoga teaching certificate, and is required for the Sun & Moon In-Depth Dharma Program participants.

Cost: $90 ($80 for current Dharma Program students)
