This morning I noticed one small daffodil blooming in my backyard. It seems out of sync with its garden-mates, revealing its yellow sooner than the rest. It reminded me how capricious spring can be. One minute I'm bundling up in a wool hat and puffy coat, the next I'm pulling off layers and feeling a sweet breeze on bare arms. Even as we have notions of spring as the giver of new warmth and fresh starts, it can also be the taker-away of expectations and assumptions. This is a season full of prickly unpredictability.
Finding meaning in surprising or unwanted change does not mean we ignore the difficult emotions those changes may bring, but instead it means meeting ourselves with honesty and gentle care as we navigate fresh and tender turf.
Yoga practice on the mat is an ideal setting to train in these qualities. Each posture can be met as if it's never been practiced before: with no expectations, with kind patience, with humble and confident intention.
Whatever is blooming right now in your heart or mind, we hope your yoga practice can be a part of meeting it, finding meaning in it, and allowing its expression to bloom in its own good time.
With love and care,
Annie and your friends at Sun & Moon
