The Heart of Action

Perhaps even more important than an open heart is a clear heart. A heart that is able to be receptive and generous and aware of the continual flow of herself and everything and everybody around her.  A heart with the capacity to feel and steadiness to respond. A heart that can find the right action when there seems to be nothing to do.

Time with Kira is deigned to explore the movements of the heart, relying on the teachings of the sages (particularly the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Lojong teachings), findings of modern research, and individual investigations. This work can lead to a strengthened relationship of trust with oneself and the life's decisions, large and small.

Friday Evening: Letting the Heart Breathe, 6:30p - 8:30p
The breath and the heart are intimate. With attention to allowing for the needed space and support for the heart, we will hone the skills of steady attention (dharana) and wide-open awareness (dhyana). Our practice will combine simple asana, pranayama and discussion.

Saturday Early Afternoon: What does the Heart Want? 12:30p - 3:00p
The desires of our heart move us.  We will unpack this truth through simple asana, pranayama, meditation and discussion.

Saturday Late Afternoon: Connecting the Heart, 3:30p - 6:00p
Transformation is the process of becoming more attuned to the subtler, powerful, mysterious forces that truly run the cosmos. When we can touch these forces within ourselves, we can know we belong, are wanted, and have a purpose. Our time will combine simple asana, pranayama and pratyahara.

Sunday Early Afternoon: The Heart’s Commitment, 12:30p - 3:30p
It’s very easy to become overwhelmed and forgetful about what matters to us.  Building on our skills from the weekend, we will add heat so that we leave inspired and renewed in our desire to stay connected to our own hearts.
