Supply Collection for Ukrainian Refugees

An ongoing refugee crisis began in Europe in late February 2022 after Russia's invasion of Ukraine has displaced more than ten million people, creating one of the largest refugee crises in the world in the 21st century. As yogis we meet suffering with action whenever and however we can, and so, along with the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC), Sun & Moon is collecting donated items to be distributed to refugee centers in Poland and Ukraine. Collected items will be centralized and sorted at the end of the collection period, and from there, shipped by Paxton Moving Company to North Carolina and onward to Poland.

THREE WAYS TO HELP

1. Donate items.
We need new blankets, heavy socks, and gloves; and new or gently used coats. Drop these items at Sun & Moon in Arlington by April 14, OR deliver your items to one of NVRC’s 34 drop-off sites across NoVa (check here for locations.

2. Pack boxes. Volunteer on April 22 or 23 at the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Hunter Mill Road in Oakton to prepare boxes for delivery to Poland. Click here to sign up for a shift.

3. Make a monetary contribution. If you don’t have time to shop before April 14, email Carol Stehl, and she’ll shop and deliver for you!
