We'll spend a week at the sumptuous Royal Pita Maha resort in Ubud (July 30 to August 6,) where each "room" is its own villa, complete with private pool and extraordinary and uninterrupted views of tropical greenery. Check out their website here!

While in Ubud, a thriving village in central Bali considered the cultural capital of the island, we'll explore its famed arts and crafts workshops and galleries, meet famous woodcarvers and artists, attend cultural ceremonies and world-famous dance performances, sample an array of local foods and cafes, and attend a private tour of the Peliatan Palace, followed by dinner and discussion with a Balinese Prince.

Short day-excursions include a visit to the Tegenungan waterfall and the Cantika Spa, an eco-bike tour through rural roads and fields, and a sunrise wander through a traditional market and holy spring temple,

There's also an optional extension of four nights (August 6 to 10), staying in the gorgeous seaside resort of Taman Sari in the village of Pemuteran, and a final night at Puri Taman Sari among the stunning rice field village of Mengwi. The extension days include time for snorkeling and learning about the Coral Restoration Project, a visit to the iconic Ulun Danu Bratan temple on Lake Beratan, and a day trip to Menjangan Island.

Our trip is sponsored and designed by the Bali Institute for Global Renewal, based in San Francisco with many years' experience designing cultural and yoga vacations to Bali. The BIGR staff has spent lots of time in Bali, and they have personal relationships and connections with many of the fabulous people and places we'll be meeting and visiting. We will have unique and special access that the typical tourist may not experience, so this promises to be a special and unforgettable trip.
