Alex has been teaching yoga since 2007, and his studies began at age 14 when chronic health issues made being a teenager even more awkward and uncomfortable. The yoga community offered Alex acceptance, lessons in non-judging awareness and self love, which were not a part of his high school curriculum. Additionally, alignment-based asana and breath-inspired movement complemented Alex’s pursuits in dance and martial arts. When he moved to Boston for college, Alex explored a variety of Eastern healing modalities while stepping into his role as a yoga teacher. Since then, he has taught over 5,000 hours of classes to hundreds of students in Boston, Asheville, Seattle and Northern Virginia. In addition to teaching traditional studio groups and private students, Alex has offered specialized classes in hospitals and wellness centers as part of integrated therapy programs.
Alex teaches a broad range of class styles, from restorative yoga to vigorous vinyasa. Whether the focus is alignment-based or deeply meditative, Alex encourages students to cultivate mindfulness through non-judging awareness and movement inquiry. Inspired by positive psychology, Alex believes how we engage with the mat is a metaphor for how we relate to ourselves, others and our world. With an approach that is both powerfully embodied and gently humorous, Alex offers an impactful experience that celebrates authenticity and serves to align you with your highest possible wellbeing.
