700-Hour Advanced Certification

Requirements include the 400 hours of coursework as outlined below which is above and beyond the 300-Hour curriculum. Of the 400 hours of coursework for this program, 270 hours must be contact hours with JJ Gormley, and the remaining 130 can be with other approved teachers.

Independent Study: One research papers is required, of 15 pages in length and must be submitted before requesting the final exam. The final exam is a comprehensive, open-book, take-home exam.

Prerequisites and Application Process

700-Hour Pre-requisites include successful completion of the 300-Hour (or comparable) Program, a strong background of five years or more in yoga, a strong daily practice of one hour or more which includes at least 20 minutes of pranayama/meditation and having read the books on the 300-Hour Reading List.

Most people complete the 700Hour program in about 3 years; however you have up to seven years to complete all requirements.

The application questions should be answered openly and honestly. Use as many words as you would like to answer the questions fully. We would like to get a good picture of you as a person on as many levels as possible: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual. Questions on your religious background and spiritual practices are a way to get to know you better and will in no way prejudice our decision about your suitability for this program. Please be sure to include your name on each page of your typed responses to the questions and on the top page please give us your complete name, address, phones, email and fax.

Fees

Please complete the application questions, and submit 4 references (2 personal and 2 from yoga teachers) along with the $30 Application Fee. Once accepted into the program, the administration fee for the program must be paid. Payment plans may be arranged if necessary. This administrative fee covers the development and maintenance of the program. All classes, workshops and retreats to complete the program requirements must be paid as you register for them directly to the Yoga Studio or Center hosting the workshop.

Each Program Administrative Fee is $1500.

Application fee and Administrative Fees are non-refundable.

Yoga Alliance/Registered Yoga Schools

The 300-Hour and the 700-Hour Programs are Registered Yoga Schools (RYS) with the Yoga Alliance. Upon graduation each Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT), may apply to the Yoga Alliance to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). The Yoga Alliance does not currently register Yoga Therapists.
